It is a no-brainer that when starting a new social network on Oxwall or managing an old one, optimizing the mobile experience is often the primary concern. Statistics by Internet Live Stats shows that 2 billion out 7 billion people on earth uses the internet and roughly 60% of this internet users access the internet via mobile.

Hence, the subject of having a mobile friendly platform isn’t an option but a mandatory demand.

In this tutorial, we will be walking you through on how to setup your very own Android app for your website. No programming/coding knowledge is required.

Requirements:

In order for your app to render properly on smaller screens, you need to optimize your website for mobile viewing. So many responsive Oxwall themes are available to choose from, alongside the mobile plugin by aron. If you can’t afford a responsible theme or mobile plugin, you can stick with the native Oxwall mobile that comes pre-installed in Oxwall 1.6, Oxwall 1.7, Oxwall 1.7.1 and above.

Once your mobile view is set, proceed to Appsgeyser and create a free account.

  • From the web category, click on website or goto http://www.appsgeyser.com/create/url/.
  • Enter the address of your website and click next.
  • Write the name of your app. You can use your website name. Click next
  • Write a description for your Android application and click next
  • Choose custom icon and upload your website logo. Recommended logo size is 512px X 512px
After uploading your icon, click next and create app button that appears at the bottom of the form. To preview your app simply click on the mobile preview image at the right hand side of your screen.
The next page is where you fill in your account details. To save time, you can simply sign in with your Facebook account. Your app is now ready. Upload at least 4 screenshots of your app if you want to upload it to the Google Play Store or simply download the application and upload it to your server for your users to download. Also check out the distribution page for your app distribution widgets.

  1. I’m really loving the theme/design of your website. Do you ever run into any browser compatibility issues? A handful of my blog readers have complained about my blog not working correctly in Explorer but looks great in Safari. Do you have any advice to help fix this problem?

  2. Hello CO. It depends on what version of IE your users are browsing with. Many of the modern CSS standards and functions are not supporter by IE browsers 8 and older (usually). IE is dead all in all, and is now focused as Microsoft Edge which does work well with todays web design standards.

    Regards,
    Jake.
